The last day of operation of traditional red buses operated from Sidcup Garage (SP)
Aug 16 1986
Contract awarded to London Country operating from Swanley Garage (SJ) using green double deckers. M-F alternate rush hour jounrneys were diverted at Orpington War Memorial to run to Green Street Green rather than Orpinton Station. This provided a direct link to Sidcup for passengers wishing to avoid the detour via St Pauls Cray estate on new Roundabout route R1.

The last day of operation from Bromley Garage (TB)
Contract awarded to Metrobus operating from Green Street Green Garage (MB) Operated daily between Bromley North and Chislehurst, extended Sundays only to Eltham via New Eltham.
Buses were every 12mins m-f rush hrs, 20mins evenings and 30mins Sundays.

New service ran every 30mins between Chislehurst War Memorial and Eltham Station via New Eltham. M-F rush hours buses ran through from the existing 228 service between Eltham & Chislehurst via Sidcup Queen Mary's Hospital.

Service ran between Bromley Common Garage and Lewisham Bus Station via Bromley, Grove Park, Lee and Lee Green. Buses were every 12mins during the day, m-f; every 20mins m-s evenings and early Saturday mornings; every 7-8mins during Saturday shopping hours; and every 30mins on Sundays.
Roundabout route R1 replaced the 261 between Bromley Common Crown and Orpington via Farnborough.

New service awarded awarded to Metrobus operating from Green Street Green Garage (MB)
Service ran between Bromley North Station and Green Street Green via Bromley Common, Locks Bottom and Farnborough. Buses were hourly m-s and its timetable was combined with Green Line service 706 to give a 30min service between Green Street Green and Bromley.

Service ran between Sidcup Bus Garage and Bexleyheath via Sidcup, Albany Park, Bexley and Bridgen.
Buses were every 20mins on m-f (except evenings), and during Saturday shopping hours. During m-f rush hours it continued to Erith via Barnhurst.
Roundabout route R1 replaced the Sidcup to Green Street Green via St Pauls Cray section.

Routes 353,354 and 357 continued to be operated by Metrobus but under contract to London Regional Transport
Routes 353 and 357 continued to provide a direct link on m-s between Orpington and Croydon via Crofton Road, Locks Bottom, Croydon Road, Coney Hall, Addington and Coombe Road. A new timetable was introduced with frequencies maintained.
Route 354 no longer ran to Croydon. Instead it ran m-f between Bromley North and Selsdon via Hayes, Addington and Selsdon Vale. A new timetable was introduced with more buses.
Route 493 continued to be operated by London Country Bus Services but under contract to London Regional Transport.
Route 493 was shortened and ran between Ramsden Estate and Orpington Station via Orpington High Street (Walnuts Centre).
Buses were every 10mins during m-f rush hours; every 15mins between the peaks and on Saturdays; and hourly in the evenings and on Sundays.
Roundabout route R3 replaced the 493 between Orpington Station to Green Street Green via Chelsfield Station.
